The Best Sandwiches at Tim Hortons

Tim Hortons isn’t just about coffee and donuts. The Canadian-based chain offers extensive lunch menu items, including sandwiches and, yes – even chili!

These aren’t your run-of-the-mill, ready-to-eat sandwiches that sit in a refrigerated case all afternoon; Tim Hortons’ lunch sandwiches are made to order, which means they’re fresh and customizable.

Tim Hortons’ lunch hours will vary by location since each restaurant sets its own hours. Most stores will start serving lunch at 10 am or 11 am when they finish with breakfast.

Some locations are open 24 hours and will offer certain menu items all day. So it’s always best to check with your local store to see their lunch hours.

Keep reading to find out the best Tim Hortons lunch menu items, including sandwiches, paninis, wraps, and more!

11. Tuna Salad Sandwich

Regardless of the restaurant, tuna is just not a food I really want to order from a fast food place.

Consistency, texture, flavor, and freshness aside, it’s just so easy and inexpensive to make decent tuna salad at home.

So why settle for something almost guaranteed to be lower quality and more expensive?

The Tuna Salad Sandwich at Tim Hortons is fine, but the lack of customization options and the thin, shredded texture of the tuna leave much to be desired.

This sandwich is made from tuna salad and lettuce on a ciabatta-style roll.

You can customize it by adding tomato, mayo, or a slice of processed cheese, but that’s about it, at least when you order online.

Different sauces and veggie toppings would make the sandwich better, as would chunkier tuna, but if you’re a tuna lover or pescatarian looking for a filling lunch, it’s not the worst option.

The Tuna Salad Sandwich contains 456 calories, 19 of fat, 2g of sugar, and 18g of protein.

10. Grilled Cheese Panini

When made correctly, the Grilled Cheese Panini from Tim Hortons skyrockets to near the top of this list, but unfortunately, the sandwich is just too inconsistent to snag a spot above tenth place.

This sandwich is made from processed cheese layered between slices of artisan bread.

It’s sprinkled with a topping of shredded cheese and grilled.

When made correctly, the cheese inside the panini is melty, and the cheese on top of the sandwich is crispy, making it the perfect comfort food.

Unfortunately, all too often, Tim Hortons’ grilled cheeses don’t get enough time on the grill, which means the cheese doesn’t fully melt.

The result is a slightly toasted cheese sandwich that falls short of expectations.

9. Grilled Chicken Panini

The Grilled Chicken Panini is basically just the Grilled Cheese Panini with strips of grilled chicken added.

It’s nowhere near as good as the discontinued Tuscan Chicken Panini (RIP creamy sundried tomato sauce), but it’s still an enjoyable sandwich, even if it is a little boring.

The Grilled Chicken Panini is made with grilled chicken, cheese, and mayo sandwiched between slices of artisan bread and grilled on a panini press.

You can add lettuce, tomato, or bacon to the sandwich or substitute chipotle sauce for the mayo.

8. Turkey Bacon Club

The Turkey Bacon Club from Tim Hortons is a solid “I just need a sandwich” type of sandwich.

It makes a filling and satisfying lunch that isn’t heavy or greasy but has enough bacon to keep it from feeling too healthy.

Like many other Tim Hortons lunch sandwiches, the biggest issue with this sandwich is its lack of customization options.

It is made from sliced deli turkey, bacon strips, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, and mayo on a bun.

You can remove items, add extra, or request to substitute the sauce with chipotle sauce.

Longtime fans of the Turkey Bacon Club will remember when it was made with honey mustard sauce.

Although it’s not available at all Tim Hortons locations, some may still carry honey mustard that you can request on your sandwich.

The Turkey Bacon Club contains 596 calories, 27g of fat, 7g of sugar, and 30g of protein.

7. Avocado Turkey Wrap

The Avocado Turkey Wrap is one of the newer additions to the Tim Hortons menu.

It hasn’t earned a higher spot on this list yet, though I have high hopes for this one!

This wrap is made from sliced deli turkey, green leaf lettuce, sliced tomato, and avocado spread on a flour tortilla.

It’s a little boring, but it’s a light and refreshing lunch sandwich, making it one of the healthier items on the menu.

6. Ham & Swiss Sandwich

Salty ham, creamy Swiss cheese, fresh lettuce, and tomato – what’s not to love?

Tim Hortons’ Ham & Swiss Sandwich is a classic bistro-style sandwich.

It’s made with sliced black forest ham, Swiss cheese, tomato, and green leaf lettuce on a bun.

Some locations make their Ham & Swiss Sandwiches with ranch dressing, while others use honey mustard.

You can always substitute plain mayo or chipotle sauce if you’d prefer.

You can also request a different cheese, such as cheddar, if you don’t want Swiss, and an alternative is available.

Unfortunately, you’ll have to order in person to request that particular substitution, as there’s no way to do it online using the Tim Hortons app or website.

The Ham & Swiss sandwich contains 532 calories, 21g of fat, 7g of sugar, and 28g of protein.

5. Steak & Cheddar Panini

The Steak & Cheddar Panini might not look like much, but it tastes pretty good.

It’s definitely the best of the three Tim Hortons paninis.

It’s made with seasoned sliced steak, melted cheddar cheese, mayo, and red onion pressed on artisan bread.

It’s particularly good if you substitute chipotle sauce for plain mayo.

Although this one suffers from some of the same heating issues as the grilled cheese, the layer of cheese is thinner on this sandwich, so it melts a bit quicker than the grilled cheese.

4. Chipotle Chicken Bacon Wrap

The Chipotle Chicken Bacon Wrap is a delicious, portable lunch perfect for days when you’re on the go.

It’s made with grilled chicken strips, crispy bacon, lettuce, tomato, and chipotle sauce on a grilled wrap.

You’ll have the option to add cheddar cheese when ordering online or on the app. (When given the opportunity, I always add cheese.)

The wrap is creamy, salty, and smoky. The bacon and lettuce both add great texture, and it’s filling but not too big.

Calorie-wise, the Chipotle Chicken Bacon Wrap is comparable to many other Tim Hortons sandwiches.

It contains 503 calories, 23g of fat, 8g of sugar, and 33g of protein.

3. Chili

Ok, so this one isn’t a sandwich, but Tim Hortons’ Chili is one of their most popular lunch menu items, and rightfully so.

It’s delicious, comforting, and filling. It’s made from beef, kidney beans, tomato, onions, green pepper, mushrooms, celery, and spices.

It’s hearty and warm and comes with a roll and butter on the side.

You have the option to add a sprinkle of cheddar cheese on top. (Trust me, get the cheese.)

Tim Hortons’ Chili is available in two sizes: small and regular.

A regular Chili contains 436 calories, 21g of fat, 9g of sugar, and 26g of protein.

The biggest complaint about the Chili is that it’s overpriced. Depending on your location, you can expect to pay around $4 for a small and $5-$6 for a large.

However, the price is comparable to most other Tim Hortons lunch items, so that doesn’t really bother me.

2. Chipotle Steak Wrap

The Chipotle Steak Wrap is one of the best Tim Hortons sandwiches. It’s smoky, savory, and a little spicy.

It’s made with thinly sliced seasoned steak, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, red onion, and chipotle sauce on a grilled flour tortilla.

The wrap is flavorful and only contains 490 calories, 22g of fat, 7g of sugar, and 28g of protein, making it surprisingly lighter than many other lunch options on the Tim Hortons menu.

The one problem with the Chipotle Steak Wrap is that it can be inconsistent, and the chipotle sauce often leaks out the bottom of the wrap.

So if you’re planning on eating this in public, proceed with caution!

1. BLT

A BLT is an underrated classic, and it’s often a great choice when ordering from a fast food place because it’s quick, simple, and hard to mess up.

The BLT at Tim Hortons is made with five strips of bacon, green leaf lettuce, tomato, and mayo on a bun.

It’s simple, satisfying, and needs no embellishment.

The BLT contains 509 calories, 23g of fat, 7g of sugar, and 20g of protein.

It’s not exactly healthy, but it’s not the worst thing on the menu, either.

Pro tip: if you’re in the mood for something similar at breakfast, try the Bagel B.E.L.T. on the Tim Hortons breakfast menu.

Conclusion

If you’re looking for a quick lunch on the go, you should check out the Tim Hortons lunch menu.
