Publix Takes Apple Pay and Here’s How to Use It

With over 1,200 stores throughout the Southeastern United States, Publix is the go-to grocery store for many people. Apple Pay provides a faster and safer way to pay for groceries, and more stores started adding Apple Pay to their accepted payment methods.

Publix takes Apple Pay for purchases made in-store, and most Publix stores allow cash back with Apple Pay. You can also use Apple Pay for Publix delivery and pickup orders through Instacart. In addition to Apple Pay, Publix accepts Google Pay, Samsung Pay, and its own mobile wallet Publix Mobile Pay.

In this article, we’ll cover how to use Apple Pay at Publix, how Publix Mobile Pay works, and provide the list of all payment methods accepted at Publix.

How to Use Apple Pay at Publix

To use Apple Pay at Publix, notify the cashier that you will use Apple Pay when you’re in the checkout lane and place your iPhone or Apple Watch next to the NFC card reader. If your payment transaction is successful, a confirmation message will be displayed on the screen.

Apple Pay is entirely contactless payment, and it only takes a few seconds to complete your payment at Publix.

It’s important to note that Apple Pay is a secure payment method, and therefore, the last four digits printed on your Publix receipt will not match your card number.

This is because Apple Pay changes this number to protect your card’s information.

You can find the steps below to use Apple Pay at Publix with iPhone Face ID, Touch ID, or Apple Watch.

Using Apple Pay at Publix With iPhone Face ID

Below are the steps to use Apple Pay at Publix with your iPhone’s Face ID:

  1. Double-click your iPhone’s side button to pay for your items with the selected card in your Apple Wallet.
  2. Next, confirm your identity using Face ID or by entering your passcode.
  3. Finally, bring your iPhone close to the NFC card reader until a checkmark appears, and you’ll see a “Done” message on display.

Using Apple Pay at Publix With iPhone Touch ID

If your iPhone has a Touch ID, you can follow the easy steps below to use Apple Pay at Publix:

  1. Put your finger on your iPhone’s Touch ID to pay using your default card in your Apple Wallet.
  2. Then, bring your iPhone next to the NFC reader until you see the “Done” message, and a checkmark will appear on display.

Using Apple Pay at Publix With Your Apple Watch

You can also use Apple Pay at Publix if you have an Apple Watch. Follow the steps below on how to use it:

  1. Double-click your Apple Watch’s side button to pay with the default card in your Apple Wallet.
  2. Then, place your Apple Watch next to the NFC reader face down.
  3. Finally, you will feel a buzz on your Apple Watch to let you know that the payment was successful.

Can You Get Cash Back With Apple Pay at Publix?

You can get cash back with Apple Pay at most Publix stores. To get cash back with Apple Pay at Publix, you’ll have to pay with your debit card linked to your Apple Wallet. Then, after your Apple Pay transaction goes through at checkout, you can request cash back as you normally would using your debit card.

When you shop at Publix using Apple Pay and the debit card linked to your Apple Wallet, you can get cash back of up to $100.

Apple Pay is just the contactless way of using your debit card at checkout, so there should not be any issues with getting cash back.

Like most retailers, Publix does not offer cash back for purchases made with credit cards. Therefore, you’ll have to use your debit card linked to your Apple Pay account.

While most Publix stores offer $100 cash back for debit cards, some smaller stores may have a $50 limit.

There is no fee or minimum purchase requirement to get cash back at Publix. However, it’s best to contact your local Publix store about their cash back policy and confirm they have the NFC terminal to accept Apple Pay.

What Are the Benefits of Apple Pay?

The main benefit of using Apple Pay is the security it offers to customers by hiding the credit or debit card number while using it for in-store or online purchases. Apple Pay also provides faster checkout with one-click payment and the ability to set up recurring payments to merchants.

If you have Apple devices like iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch, Apple Pay is the most convenient way to make payments without the need for your physical wallet.

Apple’s Touch ID and Face ID work seamlessly to verify your identity and process payments through Apple Pay.

Another benefit of Apple Pay is the ability to track your payment history without needing a receipt. All transaction history can be easily accessed through the Apple Wallet.

Does Publix Accept Apple Pay Online?

You can use Apple Pay when shopping online at Publix through Instacart. Publix has partnered with Instacart for online delivery and curbside pickup orders. When placing an online order at Publix, you will be redirected to the Instacart website or the app, and you can use Apple Pay to pay for your order.

You can order Publix groceries and subs for pickup or delivery through Instacart.

For Publix delivery orders over $10, there’s a $3.99 delivery fee. One-hour deliveries and orders less than $35 have higher delivery fees.

You can also order Publix online for curbside pickup. Publix curbside pickup is free for orders over $35.

Since both delivery and curbside pickup orders are placed through Instacart, you’ll have to use Apple Pay on the Instacart app or the website for Publix online orders.

How to Use Apple Pay For Publix Pickup and Delivery

You can use Apple Pay for Publix curbside pickup and delivery orders through Instacart. You will be redirected to Instacart when placing an online order at Publix. To use Apple Pay for Publix online orders, select the “Apple Pay” option once you’re at checkout on the Instacart app or the website.

To use Apple Pay when shopping online at Publix through Instacart, you’ll need to have Apple Pay set up with a card linked to your Apple Wallet.

Select Publix as your store on the Instacart app or the website. Then add your items to your cart and proceed to checkout.

Instacart will ask you to confirm your delivery or pickup times, and then you’ll be able to choose your payment method.

You’ll see “Apple Pay” listed as one of the payment methods. If you don’t see Apple Pay, confirm that you have Apple Wallet set up with a credit or debit card linked to your account.

Finally, you’ll need to verify your identity using Touch ID or Face ID, and the Apple Pay transaction will be processed.

What Is Publix Mobile Pay?

Publix Mobile Pay is Publix’s mobile wallet that you can use to pay for purchases made in Publix stores. To use Publix Mobile Pay, you’ll need to download the Publix app onto your phone and add a credit or debit card to your mobile wallet. Then, you can use Publix Mobile Pay by scanning the QR code at the register.

Similar to other retailers like Target, Kroger, and Walmart, Publix created its own mobile wallet that you can use in Publix stores.

One advantage of using Publix Mobile Pay is that it’s fully integrated with the Publix app. With the Publix app, you can use digital coupons and make mobile payments all in one place.

To use Publix Mobile Pay, you need to click on the “Pay” tab on the Publix app when you’re at the checkout. Then, you’ll enter the four-digit PIN you created when you first set up Mobile Pay.

Finally, the camera will show up, and you’ll scan the QR code displayed on the computer screen to complete the transaction.

If you have any issues with using Publix Mobile Pay, you can let the cashiers know, and they will help you with the process.

In addition to Apple Pay, Publix accepts Google Pay and Samsung Pay. Publix also accepts cash, personal checks, EBT, WIC, American Express, Visa, Mastercard, and Discover credit cards.
