McDonald’s Bacon Cajun Ranch McCrispy: Taste Test & Review
McDonald’s has been synonymous with hamburgers for decades, but the fast food giant has also become a player in the chicken sandwich wars in recent years, joining the ranks of Chick-fil-A, Popeyes, and other popular fried chicken chains.
Three years after launching McCrispy sandwiches in 2021, McDonald’s just released their Bacon Cajun Ranch McCrispy for a limited time at participating locations. Of course, I headed to my local McDonald’s to try their new chicken sandwich.
Taste Test
There are two versions of McDonald’s new Cajun chicken sandwich: the Bacon Cajun Ranch McCrispy and the Bacon Cajun Ranch DeluxeMcCrispy. The only difference is that the deluxe version features shredded lettuce, Roma tomato slices, and a price hike of 50 cents.
On the regular sandwich, you’ll find a fried chicken patty, applewood smoked bacon, pickles, and a spicy Cajun ranch sauce, all served in a toasted potato roll. I ordered the deluxe version for my taste test.
This was my first time trying a McCrispy chicken sandwich in a long time, and I was very impressed with what I tasted. The chicken was crunchy and fried to perfection without getting too greasy.
The Cajun ranch sauce had a kick to it and tasted different from any other burger sauce I’ve tried at a fast food spot. The bacon was crispy and smokey with zero sog even after it sat in the bag on my way home.
The lettuce and tomato, which are usually the most boring part of a sandwich, were impressively fresh-tasting and colorful.
Grab or Pass?
McDonald’s new Bacon Cajun Ranch McCrispy is definitely worth grabbing. I was actually surprised by how much I enjoyed this sandwich. At $6.79, it’s on the pricier side of the McDonald’s menu, but the taste and quality make it worth the extra few bucks.
