A Complete Guide to Ordering From the Walmart Deli

The Walmart Deli offers an extensive selection of freshly made foods. You can also take advantage of their affordable catering service to order trays and platters of delicious sandwiches, meats, and cheeses for your next event. I put together this guide to help you with your Walmart Deli orders, including how to find the best deals. So, let’s dive in!

Walmart Deli Hours

Most Walmart Delis are open from 8 am to 8 pm every day, but hot foods may not be ready until 10 am at some locations. So, if you are looking to buy prepared hot foods, you may have to wait until 10 am to allow associates to prepare for the day. Walmart Delis are also open on most holidays, though hours may be reduced on these days. They close with the rest of the store on Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Of course, individual locations may adjust their hours as needed. To make sure there are no surprises, you can call your local Walmart to find out the most up-to-date hours for their deli department. You can find their phone number using Walmart’s online Store Directory. Many Walmart locations do not have the deli’s direct phone number listed, so you may need to call the store’s main number and have someone transfer you to the correct department.

What You Can Buy From the Walmart Deli

Walmart Delis sell a variety of deli meats and cheeses, rotisserie chicken, prepared meals, side dishes, fresh soups, salads, and sandwiches. You can also buy dips, hummus, salsa, bacon, hot dogs, sausage, and other snack foods. The Walmart Deli menu is quite extensive. There is a wide variety of foods available, and you can preview these items online.

If you need to serve a large crowd, you can try Walmart’s deli catering option. They offer large platters of sandwiches, specialty meats and cheeses, and snacks.

One of the most popular items from the Walmart deli is their rotisserie chicken. They are prepared daily and are actually pretty flavorful and affordable. With a few side dishes, you have endless possibilities to transform your rotisserie chicken into a delicious meal!

Walmart Deli Trays and Platters

The Walmart Deli has many different trays and platters featuring meats, cheeses, and freshly made sandwiches. The trays come in multiple sizes to accommodate your party and are made with Walmart’s signature brand, Prima Della.

The Walmart Deli Party Trays Brochure shows all the deli has to offer. You can order a sandwich platter, meat and cheese tray, chicken wings, or even a variety of chicken samplers.

For any tray with deli meat, you can choose from Prima Della turkey, ham, or roast beef. Your cheese options are Prima Della cheddar, colby jack, muenster, pepper jack, provolone, or Swiss.

If you are looking for a more classic party food, you can order the Chicken Wing Tray, which features regular or boneless wings served alongside carrots, celery, and a creamy dip. For more variety, try the Chicken Trio Tray. This option includes crispy popcorn chicken, chicken tenders, and buffalo wings.

Walmart’s deli trays come in small, medium, and large sizes. Small trays typically serve 8-10 people, medium trays serve around 15-20, and large trays serve around 20-25 people.

Ordering From the Walmart Deli

To order from the Walmart Deli, visit their deli counter in person or add premade items to your online order for pickup or delivery. Just note that Walmart catering orders for deli trays can only be placed in person or over the phone.

When you shop in person, you can see all that your local deli has to offer, so this is the best option. As I mentioned before, you cannot place catering orders online, but you can still preview the trays offered at your location. To order a deli tray or platter, you will need to visit your local store in person or call them.

When you speak with a Walmart deli clerk, they will help you fill out a “Deli menu order form.” This order form displays all the trays available at your location, and you can select which ones you want. You will also need to provide your contact information and details about when to pick up the order.

Ordering From the Walmart Deli Online

You can order most products from the Walmart Deli online for pickup or delivery, including deli meats, cheeses, and ready-made foods. However, catering orders, including party trays and platters, cannot be ordered online, so you must either go to the store in person or call them.

Here are the step-by-step instructions to order from the Walmart Deli online:

  1. Create an online Walmart account for easier ordering.
  2. Check that your store location and delivery address are correct, if applicable. This will ensure that you see accurate information about which items are unavailable or out-of-stock.
  3. Find the deli items you want. You can search for specific items, or you can browse the deli section within the Grocery department.
  4. Add items to your cart by clicking the “+Add” button. For freshly sliced deli products, you can adjust the quantity by 0.25 lb. increments.
  5. Review your cart to make sure everything looks correct. Then, click “Continue to Checkout.”
  6. Reserve a time for pickup or delivery. You can choose from available times up to seven days out.
  7. Add a payment method and confirm that all details are correct. Then, place the order and look for the confirmation information.

If you don’t already have a Walmart account, you can quickly sign up online. All you need to do is enter your name and email address and create a password. With a Walmart account, you will be able to save payment methods and a favorite location to make online checkout easier in the future.

With that being said, make sure your store location and delivery address are correct before starting your order! Walmart’s website always shows you up-to-date information about which items are in stock and available at your selected location.

If you are planning to order delivery from Walmart on a regular basis, you should consider signing up for Walmart+. Walmart+ is a membership that gives shoppers extra benefits, including free delivery for orders, which can save you a ton of money. Walmart offers a free 15-day trial for Walmart+ membership, so you can try the service before committing to a longer-term membership.

Walmart Deli Deals

The Walmart Deli typically has multiple deals in the form of markdowns, price matching, and exclusive deals displayed on the Walmart app or website.

The best way to find Walmart Deli deals is to look for products about to expire. You can usually find some great foods that are still good to eat, but they are at a low price because they will only last for a few more days. Just make sure that the food still looks safe to eat! A helpful hint is to look for prices ending in a 1 or a 0. Many products can be discounted more than once, but the price ending in a 1 or 0 indicates that the item has been marked down as much as possible.

If you happen to see a lower price for a deli item at another store, show it to one of the Walmart employees when checking out. Try to find the price online so the employee can easily verify that it is up to date. According to Walmart’s Price Match policy, they will charge you a lower price for that item than the regular sales price.

Using Walmart Pickup can also help you save money on your deli purchases. While shopping online, look for items labeled “Pickup Discount Eligible.” This means that a special discount is applied to that item if you add it to a pickup order.

While this next tip isn’t about getting any kind of special deal, it can still help you save a lot of money at the Walmart Deli. Look for Walmart’s store brand products because these items will likely be the cheapest of all similar products. Common brand names to look for are Prima Della for deli meats and cheeses, Freshness Guaranteed for various side items, and Marketside for sandwiches.

Lastly, you can sign up for a Walmart credit card to save money on all Walmart purchases, including deli items. This credit card gets you 5% cash back on all online purchases for pickup or delivery. When shopping in-store, you still get 2% cash back.
