Let’s explore how home delivery works at each grocery store below.
1. Albertsons
Albertsons has its own delivery service, and in most cases, Albertsons employees deliver groceries to your home. They also partner with Instacart in some locations to deliver groceries.
Customers have the option to choose “Rush Delivery” with Instacart. If you prefer the Rush Delivery option, you need to place your order through Instacart, and additional delivery fees may apply.
Albertsons’ standard delivery fee is $9.95, and there’s a $30 minimum order requirement. If you’re a new online customer and meet the minimum order, you qualify for free delivery on your first order.
If you have a “Just for U” account, you can use it for online orders. The savings will be applied to your online order, but besides the “Just for U” account savings, Albertsons doesn’t accept any digital or paper coupons for online orders.

2. Aldi
Aldi partners with Instacart to deliver groceries, so you need to place your order through Instacart. Instacart delivery fees start at $3.99 for same-day orders, and there’s a minimum order requirement of $35.
Aldi’s online prices are higher than in-store prices. This difference is to cover the cost of the “personal shopping” service provided by Instacart.
You can use digital coupons available through Instacart, but they are limited since most Aldi products are private labels.

3. Food Lion
Food Lion partners with Instacart to deliver groceries to your home. You need to place your order through Instacart, but you will get in-store prices on all items. You can also apply coupons available through the Instacart app.
You can link your MVP Savings Card to Instacart and receive the store benefits associated with your card.
Instacart has a $3.99 delivery fee for Food Lion orders over $35. For orders under $35, the delivery fee increases to $7.99. There’s also a $10 minimum order requirement.

4. Giant Eagle
Giant Eagle has its own delivery service and charges a $9.95 fee for online grocery orders. There’s a $35 minimum order requirement for delivery orders. At Giant Eagle, you’ll pay in-store prices for all items purchased online.
You can apply digital coupons while placing your online order. However, you can’t use paper coupons for online delivery orders.

5. Harris Teeter
Harris Teeter’s online grocery service is called “ExpressLane.” Harris Teeter partners with third-party companies like Instacart and Shipt to deliver groceries.
Delivery service is available in limited locations, so you should confirm service availability in your area.
Harris Teeter charges a $4.95 shopping fee for all online orders. If you request home delivery, there’s an additional $9.95 delivery fee for orders over $50 and $11.95 for orders under $50.
You can apply digital coupons to your online grocery orders.

6. H-E-B
H-E-B charges a $4.95 personal shopper fee for all online grocery orders. If you request home delivery, there’s an additional $5.00 delivery fee.
At the time of this writing (September 2020), H-E-B waived the personal shopper fee for all online orders except for same-day and next-day orders.
H-E-B’s online prices are different than in-store prices. You can apply digital coupons while placing your order online. However, you can’t use manufacturer or store coupons for online orders.

7. Kroger
Kroger partners with Instacart to deliver groceries. The delivery fees are $9.95 and $11.95, depending on your location.

Meijer charges a $9.95 fee for online delivery orders, and there’s no minimum order requirement. Meijer offers in-store promotions for online grocery orders.
If you have a mPerks account, you can load digital coupons to your account, and coupons will be applied at the checkout. Meijer doesn’t accept paper coupons for online orders.

Publix doesn’t accept printed coupons for online orders.

The standard delivery fee is $9.95, and there’s a $30 minimum order requirement at Safeway. If you’re a new online customer, you qualify for free delivery on your first Safeway order.
If you have a “Just for U” account, you can use it for online orders. Savings associated with your account will be applied to your order. Safeway doesn’t accept any digital or paper coupons for online orders.

Target partners with Shipt to offer same-day grocery delivery. You can place your order on the Target app or the website. You should check out their website to confirm service availability in your area.
Target offers in-store pricing for online orders. There’s a $9.99 delivery fee for each order and a $35 minimum order requirement. If you get an annual Shipt membership for $99, you get free delivery on all orders over $35.
Target Circle offers and all other benefits apply to same-day delivery orders.

14. Walmart
Walmart partners with third-party companies like DoorDash, Postmates, and Roadie to deliver groceries to your home.
Walmart associates pack your order and load it into the driver’s car. When the driver is on their way, you get an e-mail notification.
Walmart’s delivery fees vary, but you should expect to pay between $7.95 and $9.95 for individual orders. There’s a $30 minimum for delivery orders.
You can choose to buy a membership to receive free delivery on Walmart grocery orders. The membership costs $98 annually or $12.95 monthly.
If you’re buying groceries online more than once a month at Walmart, it makes sense to get the membership and start saving on delivery fees.

Wegmans offers grocery delivery through Instacart. The standard delivery fee for Instacart is $3.99 and varies based on your order size and the requested delivery time. Wegmans has a $35 minimum order requirement for online orders.
