What Time Does McDonald’s Stop Serving Breakfast?
Most McDonald’s locations stop serving breakfast at 11 am every day, except they stop at 11:30 am on Fridays. McDonald’s starts serving breakfast at 5 am every morning.
Breakfast hours depend on your local McDonald’s and the franchisees. It is common for some locations to offer different hours for the weekday versus the weekend.
Some may also offer extended breakfast hours, like NYC locations that serve breakfast until 2 pm.
It is important to note that if your local McDonald’s offers extended breakfast past 11 am (or 11:30 am), then your breakfast menu items may be limited after that time.
Bakery items, such as apple fritters, muffins, cinnamon rolls, etc., may not be available.
Popular items, such as Hash Browns, McMuffins, Hotcakes, and the Breakfast Burrito, are usually available if the restaurant serves extended breakfast hours.
Your best bet is to check with local McDonald’s locations near you to see if they follow the 5 am to 11 am breakfast menu schedule or offer customers a different option.
Hi, Evan. We initially removed All Day Breakfast from the menu to simplify operations in our kitchens, which we saw provided better speed of service and order accuracy for our customers. We’re evaluating if and how we will bring All Day Breakfast back to our menus.— McDonald’s (@McDonalds) July 24, 2020
Why Did McDonald’s Stop Serving Breakfast All Day?
According to McDonald’s themselves, they stopped serving their famous breakfast all day to improve daily operations at restaurant locations and provide a better service experience for their customers.
When McDonald’s offers breakfast all day to their customers, that adds 16+ menu items that workers must be prepared to make in a matter of minutes.
The ingredients needed to make the breakfast menu items also take up room in the kitchen production line.
McDonald’s pulling the breakfast menu items at 11 am has allowed the kitchen to have a break on the number of possible items that could come up on the order screen.
They also have cut down on ingredients that need to be readily available for workers.
The goal of cutting back on the breakfast menu hours was to better the customer experience. McDonald’s aimed to provide faster and more accurate service to customers by simplifying the menu items.
We feel you! We’re still looking into when/if we bring All Day Breakfast back to our menu…— McDonald’s (@McDonalds) May 17, 2021
Is McDonald’s All Day Breakfast Coming Back?
McDonald’s All Day Breakfast is already back at participating locations. Many locations in Florida, California, Nevada, and Oregon have relaunched All Day Breakfast menus. According to McDonald’s, customers should continue to keep an eye out at their local restaurants for the return of the All Day Breakfast menu.
It seems that McDonald’s has left this decision up to the franchisees as of now. This is why we are seeing such a random spread of locations still offering breakfast all day.
Although we have started to see some McDonald’s locations return to their All Day Breakfast menu, customers should not give up hope of a nationwide return of the All Day Breakfast program.
When announcing why they were ending the program, McDonald’s also mentioned that they would continue to evaluate the All Day Breakfast program.
