Does Amazon Deliver on Sundays? (Yes, Here’s What to Know)
Whether you are getting a gift, basic essentials, or groceries delivered, it can be a huge inconvenience when the service you are shopping through does not offer weekend deliveries. In a world where convenience is the most important, this is a major reason why many consumers will stop using a service.
Amazon is the world’s largest online retailer offering a variety of services. This makes you wonder about their delivery schedule and if they deliver on the weekends.
So, does Amazon deliver on Sundays?
Yes, Amazon delivers every day of the week, including weekends. Delivery dates are based on the time it takes to get the item from its origin to your location, regardless of the day of the week. This further grows Amazon’s convenience factor, especially when ordering time-sensitive items.
Before choosing which services to utilize on Amazon, it’s important to understand when your items can be delivered to you.
In this article, we will help you navigate Amazon if you need a weekend delivery and provide insights on how to use some of Amazon’s popular grocery delivery services.

What Time Does Amazon Deliver on Sundays?
Amazon delivers until 8 pm on Sundays, and therefore if you’re expecting a package on Sundays, you should expect the delivery between 8 am and 8 pm. If you want a more accurate delivery time estimation, track your package through Amazon to see if they can offer you a better estimated time of arrival.
When it comes to delivery times, it can be hard to determine exactly what time your packages will arrive since each delivery vehicle runs on a different schedule.
The delivery time may even change week to week, depending on the driver and the other locations that require drop-offs first.
Amazon allows you to track your packages on a live map in real time. You can access this information by tapping “Track Package” on the “Your Orders” screen.
On the delivery day, you can track the driver and see when they get close to your delivery location. You may also sign up for delivery alerts, and Amazon will send you a notification when the live map is available to view.
If you have a time-sensitive item, this information is quite useful as it also shows you the number of stops the driver needs to make before delivering your package.
Occasionally, the driver may change their route based on instructions from the dispatch or operational problems, but usually, Amazon’s live map is pretty accurate for estimating delivery times.
Next, we’ll cover Amazon’s two most popular grocery delivery services, Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods, to find out if they deliver on Sundays.
I scored an Amazon Fresh delivery for early Sunday morning. Just needed to supplement groceries I have at home, and excited I don’t have to leave the house to shop.

Does Amazon Fresh Deliver on Sundays?
Amazon Fresh delivers on Sundays, so if you order groceries through Amazon Fresh, you will be able to get your items delivered on weekends. However, there is less availability for delivery slots on Sundays due to the high demand for weekend deliveries.
Keep in mind that Amazon Fresh delivery slots are on a first-come, first-served basis, and most customers prefer weekend deliveries when there is someone at home to receive the groceries.
Because of this, there is less availability for Amazon Fresh delivery slots on Sundays. Therefore, depending on what time you place your order, you may not find time to get your order and may have to wait until Monday to receive the groceries.
Alternatively, if you place the order a day or two in advance, or even just earlier in the day on a Sunday, you’ll likely have no problem finding a delivery time that works with your schedule.
When Does Amazon Fresh Release Delivery Times?
You can reserve a two-hour time slot on Amazon Fresh any time between 8 am and midnight for next-day delivery. Same-day grocery delivery is also available, but there may be limited spots open depending on how many customers made reservations ahead of you.
If you’re thinking ahead and want a specific time slot, you can reserve it up to 28 days in advance of your delivery.
This ensures that you’ll have nearly the first pick on the available slots so that you can plan your schedule around your deliveries.
By opening up slots 28 days in advance, Amazon Fresh allows customers to plan ahead and not stress about availability as time gets closer.

Why Are Amazon Fresh Delivery Slots Grayed Out?
If you are browsing through Amazon Fresh delivery slots and some of them are grayed out, this is generally because the slots are no longer available. It may be due to reduced work hours around holidays or too many customers requesting deliveries at those specific times.
If you’re ordering Amazon Fresh on a Sunday or a holiday, it is not uncommon to have limited slots available. This may be due to reduced work hours around holidays, and unavailable delivery slots will be grayed out.
In this case, those delivery slots will be unavailable to all customers.
Another reason could be that there are too many customers requesting a delivery at that specific time, and therefore Amazon cannot guarantee to deliver your groceries.
If there is a potential that there will not be enough drivers to service, Amazon Fresh will gray out the delivery slots to avoid overbooking.
How to Get an Amazon Fresh Delivery Slot
When you are shopping on Amazon Fresh, you will first want to add all of the items you need to your cart. This is similar to shopping for any other item on the Amazon website, as you will be able to pick your quantity and add them to your cart.
After you’re done selecting the grocery items, you will be asked to proceed to checkout.
This is when you’ll be able to choose your delivery slot. The screen will ask you what day you’d like the delivery. It will show you the available time slots for the day you want delivery and the next 28 days for a pre-order.
You can browse the time slots there, and once you find the one that suits your needs, you’ll simply click on the time slot and proceed with your payment.

Does Whole Foods Deliver on Sundays?
Yes, if you opt to use Whole Foods delivery through Amazon Prime, you can get your groceries delivered on a Sunday. Whole Foods allows you to choose a one-hour or two-hour delivery window and charges a different delivery fee depending on your choice.
If you need your groceries delivered on the same day, you can choose either a two-hour or one-hour delivery window.
Amazon Prime members get free two-hour deliveries for orders over $35. If you select the one-hour delivery, Whole Foods charges a delivery fee based on your order total.
I wrote a separate article about the benefits of having an Amazon Prime membership at Whole Foods. Check out that article if you’re interested in finding out more!
If you can’t get same-day delivery from Whole Foods, another option could be picking up your groceries at the store. Amazon Prime members get free curbside pickup service for orders over $35.
You can pick up your groceries at your Whole Foods store in as little as one hour after checkout. This comes in very handy if you can’t book same-day delivery!
Is Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods the Same?
Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods are similar in that they are both powered by Amazon. However, there is a big difference in the items offered. If you’re ordering through Whole Foods, you’ll have a different product selection than you will when ordering through Amazon Fresh.
Whole Foods has more specialty items than Amazon Fresh, so if you’re looking for items that are harder to find in a basic supermarket, Whole Foods is a better option than Amazon Fresh.
Whole Foods is also more expensive than Amazon Fresh since it offers specialty items that are natural and organic, whereas Amazon Fresh offers everyday grocery items found at most supermarkets.
I wrote a separate article that explains the differences between Whole Foods and Amazon Fresh in greater detail, so check out that article if you’re interested in finding out more!
However, they are similar in that they use the same shopping and checkout platform through the Amazon website. This makes it easy for customers to browse both services and determine which has the items they need for their delivery.
Final Thoughts
With the convenience Amazon brings to customers, it is a great option for grocery deliveries on top of all the other items they offer. By shopping on Amazon, you’ll be able to get your groceries and all other packages delivered to you on weekends.
In addition, with the acquisition of Whole Foods, Amazon now offers even more specialty items than it only had Amazon Fresh. This appeals to a broader customer base, so regardless of when you need your groceries delivered or what kind of items you need, there is a good likelihood that you’ll be able to have your needs met through Amazon.
The key to successfully securing a same-day grocery delivery on Amazon, especially on Sundays, is to plan ahead of time. Reserve your delivery slot a few days in advance or at least early Sunday morning for last-minute shopping needs.
The delivery slots on weekends are limited, both on Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods.
