The Best Subs on the Jersey Mike’s Menu

Jersey Mike’s is a restaurant with a strong identity – they’re a sub shop and don’t try to be anything else. Luckily, they have some of the best subs in the business.

Since subs are essentially all they serve (besides the occasional soda, cookie, or bag of chips), it stands to reason that there are many of them on the Jersey Mike’s menu.

Jersey Mike’s offers a variety of hot and cold subs. Each is fully customizable and can be served on your choice of white, wheat, rosemary parmesan, seeded Italian, or gluten-free bread.

All Jersey Mike’s sandwiches can be ordered in regular or giant size (cold subs can also be ordered as half-sized “minis”) or as a wrap or bowl.

The most popular way to customize your sub is to order it “Mike’s way” topped with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, salt, oregano, and “the juice” – a blend of olive oil and red wine.

Other toppings for cold subs include bacon, pickles, banana peppers, jalapenos, cherry pepper relish, mayo, honey mustard, spice brown mustard, and yellow mustard.

For hot subs, they offer grilled onions, pepper strips, and portabella mushrooms.

If you are unfamiliar with Jersey Mike’s and need help deciding what to order, let me introduce you to the 26 best subs on the Jersey Mike’s menu.

26. Ham and Provolone (#3)

The Ham and Provolone is a solid sandwich – it’s just not the best sandwich on Jersey Mike’s menu.

In fact, I would even say that it’s not even their best ham sandwich. There are just better options.

However, this might be perfect for you if you live for simplicity.

It’s made from freshly sliced boiled ham and provolone cheese with your choice of toppings.

This sandwich tastes particularly good with honey mustard.

A regular Ham and Provolone sandwich “Mike’s way” contains 790 calories, 44g of fat, 62g of carbs, and 37g of protein.

25. Stickball Special (#11)

The Stickball Special was officially added to the menu after enough people ordered this modified version of the Jersey Shore’s Favorite, but honestly, it’s not as good as the original.

This is a great option if you prefer the bite of salami to the subtle smoky, meatiness of cappacuolo. (But I have to ask, have you tried the Original Italian?)

This sandwich is made with sliced boiled ham, hard salami, and provolone with your choice of toppings.

If you don’t get this one Mike’s way, what are you even doing?

A regular Stickball Special sandwich contains 860 calories, 51g of fat, 63g of carbs, and 38g of protein.

24. Turkey and Provolone (#7)

The Turkey and Provolone is one of the healthiest subs on Jersey Mike’s menu.

It’s made with 99% fat-free turkey breast, provolone cheese, and your choice of toppings.

It’s a simple, light, and refreshing sandwich.

While it’s not the most exciting sub on the menu, a regular-sized Turkey and Provolone on a white roll “Mike’s way” contains just 790 calories, 41g of fat, 48g of carbs, and 44g of protein.

If you’re tempted to order the sandwich as a wrap to save some calories, don’t bother.

When ordered as a wrap, the sandwich contains just as many (or more) calories than when served on bread.

If you want to cut out some calories, ask for the sub to be made into a bowl instead.

You’ll get meat and cheese roll-ups on a bed of lettuce and save yourself around 290 calories.

23. The Veggie (#14)

The Veggie might be one of the most boring Jersey Mike’s subs, but it’s definitely not the worst.

It’s actually a delicious and refreshing option, whether you eat meat or not.

The Veggie Sub is made from sliced provolone, Swiss cheese, green bell peppers, and optional toppings.

This one is perfect if you load it up Mike’s way and add some banana peppers or jalapenos to spice it up.

You can also add avocado if it’s available at your local store.

Just don’t be fooled into thinking this is your healthiest option.

The extra cheese adds up, and this sandwich contains 920 calories, 58g of fat, 63g of carbs, and 39g of protein.

22. Mike’s Chicken Philly (#16)

I’m all for a chicken cheese steak, but if I’m being honest, Mike’s Chicken Philly is a bit underwhelming compared to the rest of their subs.

It’s made with chicken, peppers, onions, and melty American cheese. While it’s tasty, it’s a little one-note.

One nice thing about this sub is that it’s relatively low in calories, even if it feels indulgent.

A regular-sized sandwich contains 650 calories, 22g of fat, 65g of carbs, and 47g of protein.

21. Tuna Fish (#10)

I’m generally not one to recommend ordering tuna from a fast food place, but the Tuna Fish Sub from Jersey Mike’s is one of the best and freshest on the market.

It’s made from tuna combined with chopped celery, mayo, and a dash of pepper. It’s especially good Mike’s way with pickles on top.

A regular Tuna Fish Sub on a white roll “Mike’s way” contains 1030 calories, 74g of fat, 62g of carbs, and 32g of protein.

20. Portabella Chicken Cheese Steak (#65)

The Portabella Chicken Cheese Steak is an umami-lover’s dream.

It’s made with grilled chicken, portabella mushrooms, peppers, onions, and white American cheese.

It’s super savory, melty, and satisfying.

A regular Portabella Chicken Cheese Steak on a white roll contains 690 calories, 25g of fat, 66g of carbs, and 48g of protein.

19. The Club Supreme (#9)

This might be a controversial sandwich to place so far down on the list because there are some die-hard #9 fans, but this combination doesn’t quite make sense to me.

Sure, it tastes great, but it reminds me of something I would throw together when I’m running low on groceries rather than something I would go out of my way to order.

That said, if you just can’t decide between roast beef and turkey for some reason, why not get both?

The Club Supreme is made with Swiss cheese, Choice Top Round roast beef, sliced turkey, bacon, and mayo with your choice of toppings.

Despite its identity crisis, it is pretty delicious.

A regular-sized Club Supreme on a white roll “Mike’s way” contains 1,150 calories, 76g of fat, 62g of carbs, and 58g of protein.

18. California Chicken Cheese Steak (#31)

This is another one that seems a little weird but is actually pretty tasty.

The California Chicken Cheese Steak is essentially a chicken cheese steak with a bunch of cold sub toppings.

It’s made with grilled chicken, melted white American cheese, lettuce, tomato, and mayo.

The toppings may seem better suited for a cold sub, but they’re pretty refreshing.

Though I have to say, at what point does a sub no longer qualify as a cheese steak? Because it seems like we’ve strayed pretty far from the classic at this point.

A regular California Chicken Cheese Steak on a white roll contains 900 calories, 51g of fat, 65g of carbs, and 49g of protein.

17. Jersey Shore’s Favorite (#2)

The Jersey Shore’s Favorite is meaty, slightly smoky, and subtle.

It’s a fantastic sandwich, especially if you’re in the mood for something you won’t find just anywhere.

Dare I say it? It even feels luxurious compared to other deli sandwiches.

It’s made from sliced boiled ham, cappacuolo, and provolone cheese with your choice of toppings.

The cappacuolo adds a fatty smokiness that really makes this sub stand apart from your average ham sandwich.

A regular Jersey Shore’s Favorite on a white roll ”Mike’s way” contains 800 calories, 44g of fat, 63g of carbs, and 38g of protein.

16. Roast Beef and Provolone (#6)

The Roast Beef and Provolone might be the simplest sandwich that has made it this far up the list, but it’s earned its place.

It’s made with super fresh sliced medium-rare, oven-roasted top round roast beef, provolone cheese, and optional toppings – definitely don’t skip the onions on this one.

This is one of the freshest roast beef sandwiches you’ll find, and it’s particularly tasty on the rosemary parmesan bread.

A regular Roast Beef and Provolone contains 870 calories, 46g of fat, 60g of carbs, and 56g of protein.

15. Portabella Cheese Steak (#66)

I consider myself something of a cheese steak purist.

Once you start adding vegetables into the mix (other than the occasional sauteed onion, of course), it becomes a steak sandwich, not a cheese steak.

Semantics aside, there are some people very near and dear to me who prefer their “cheese steak” to come with peppers and mushrooms.

This is their sandwich on the Jersey Mike’s menu.

The Portabella Cheese Steak is made from thinly sliced grilled steak, portabella mushrooms, peppers, onions, and American cheese.

It contains 750 calories, 34g of fat, 67g of carbs, and 46g of protein.

14. Cancro Special (#12)

This is another one for the list of Jersey Mike’s “weird but works” sandwiches.

The Cancro Special (Allegedly named after Jersey Mike’s CEO Peter Cancro’s brother John) is a roast beef, provolone, and pepperoni sandwich.

You might think that the pepperoni was an afterthought here, but it really does spice up the sandwich.

Definitely get this one with the oil and vinegar, and add cherry pepper relish if you’re feeling especially daring.

A regular Cancro Special on a white roll “Mike’s way” contains 920 calories, 50g of fat, 61g of carbs, and 58g of protein.

13. The Number Four (#4)

The Number Four is an OG Jersey Mike’s sub. It’s similar to the Jersey Shore’s Favorite, but it swaps out the boiled ham for prosciuttini, which is why it ranks higher on my list.

Prosciuttini is essentially spiced prosciutto and (in my opinion) is a superior pork product to plain old boiled ham.

The Number Four is made with slices of cappacuolo, prosciuttini, and provolone cheese.

The prosciuttini adds richness and black pepper spice to the sandwich, while the cappacuolo adds a delicate smoky flavor.

As with everything else on Jersey Mike’s menu, you can’t really go wrong ordering this one Mike’s way.

But don’t add too many other condiments to the sandwich – at least not anything that will overpower the subtle flavors of the meat.

A regular Number Four on a white roll “Mike’s way” contains 780 calories, 42g of fat, 64g of carbs, and 36g of protein.

12. Buffalo Chicken Cheese Steak (#44)

Buffalo chicken is always a good idea in a sandwich. It’s spicy, creamy, cheesy, and warm – what more could you want?

The Buffalo Chicken Cheese Steak from Jersey Mike’s is made from grilled chicken seasoned with Frank’s Red Hot sauce, melty white American cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and blue cheese sauce.

A regular-sized sandwich contains 890 calories, 47g of fat, 68g of carbs, and 50g of protein.

11. Chipotle Cheese Steak (#43)

Chipotle mayo should probably be a first-round pick on any condiments draft.

It’s the perfect spicy, smoky, creamy accompaniment that goes well on all kinds of things and is especially good on Jersey Mike’s Chipotle Cheese Steak.

This sandwich is made from grilled steak, melted American cheese, peppers, onions, and chipotle mayo.

It contains 990 calories, 61g of fat, 69g of carbs, and 45g of protein.

It’s a spicy, indulgent spin on a cheese steak, but be forewarned – this sandwich requires extra napkins!

10. Grilled Portabella Mushroom and Swiss (#64)

The Grilled Portabella Mushroom and Swiss is the only vegetarian hot sub on Jersey Mike’s menu, but luckily, it’s a pretty good one if you like mushrooms.

It’s sort of like a vegetarian cheese steak with grilled sliced portabella mushrooms, peppers, onions, and Swiss cheese.

The sandwich is savory, melty, and surprisingly filling. It also contains fewer calories than many of the other subs.

A regular Grilled Portabella Mushroom and Swiss on a white roll contains 610 calories, 29g of fat, 66g of carbs, and 26g of protein.

9. BLT (#1)

The BLT from Jersey Mike’s is absolutely loaded with bacon.

Other popular sandwich chains will slap two or three measly strips of bacon, but Jersey Mike’s loads up theirs.

This sandwich is made with applewood smoked bacon, sliced tomatoes, shredded iceberg lettuce, and mayo, making it the perfect sub for a bacon lover.

Surprisingly, the BLT only contains 770 calories, 48g of fat, 59g of carbs, and 27g of protein.

8. Mike’s Famous Philly (#17)

Mike’s Famous Philly is a simple, comforting classic. It’s meaty and cheesy, which are the two most important features of a Philly Cheese Steak.

This Jersey Mike’s classic sub is made with seasoned, thinly-sliced, grilled steak, peppers, onions, and melted American cheese.

It’s packed with meat, and the other ingredients are restrained enough that the steak really shines here.

A regular Mike’s Famous Philly on a white roll contains 710 calories, 30g of fat, 66g of carbs, and 45g of protein.

7. Big Kahuna Chicken Cheese Steak (#55)

The Big Kahuna Chicken Cheese Steak is a savory, spicy feast.

It’s packed with grilled chicken, peppers, onions, mushrooms, jalapenos, and American cheese.

If you really want a flavor bomb, add bacon and order it on rosemary parmesan bread.

It’s a super filling and fairly well-balanced sandwich with fewer calories than you might think.

A regular Big Kahuna Chicken Cheese Steak on a white roll contains 700 calories, 27g of fat, 67g of carbs, and 50g of protein.

6. The Super Sub (#5)

I like to think of The Super Sub as a somewhat lighter version of the Original Italian, both in terms of flavor and calories.

That’s not to say that this sandwich lacks flavor by any means – the flavors are subtler and maybe even more sophisticated than an Italian sub.

If you love Italian subs but find that pepperoni and salami overpower the flavors of your prosciuttini and cappacuolo, this is your perfect compromise.

The Super Sub is made with provolone, boiled ham, prosciuttini, and cappacuolo with your choice of toppings.

It contains 810 calories, 44g of fat, 64g of carbs, and 40g of protein.

5. Chipotle Chicken Cheese Steak (#42)

The Chipotle Chicken Cheese Steak features the same euphoric chipotle mayo as the Chipotle Cheese Steak, but it’s somehow significantly less messy.

It’s made with grilled chicken, peppers, onions, white American cheese, and chipotle mayo.

It’s still just as smoky, spicy, and savory as the beef version, but it may taste even better. Plus, it contains fewer calories.

A regular Chipotle Chicken Cheese Steak contains 920 calories, 52g of fat, 68g of carbs, and 47g of protein.

4. Big Kahuna Cheese Steak (#56)

I know I said I’m a cheese steak purist, but the Big Kahuna Cheese Steak is perfect for days when you want something a little extra.

The peppers and mushrooms add a one-two punch of spice and umami, making this sandwich ultra comforting.

The Big Kahuna Cheese Steak is made from thinly-sliced, grilled steak, peppers, onions, mushrooms, jalapenos, and extra American cheese.

A regular sandwich contains 770 calories, 35g of fat, 67g of carbs, and 48g of protein.

3. The Club Sub (#8)

The Club Sub is the perfect “I just want a big sandwich” sandwich.

It’s filling but not too heavy and has enough different textures and flavors to keep it interesting.

It’s made with turkey, ham, provolone cheese, applewood smoked bacon, and mayo.

A regular Club Sub on a white roll “Mike’s way” contains 1140 calories, 78g of fat, 63g of carbs, and 49g of protein.

If you’re worried about the calories, ask for it Mike’s way but without the olive oil.

You’ll still get the richness from the mayo and zing from the vinegar and save yourself about 250 calories.

2. Bacon Ranch Chicken Cheese Steak (#26)

The Bacon Ranch Chicken Cheese Steak has no business being as good as it is, but here we are.

It’s a classic combination that’s perfectly executed in this sandwich.

The crisp bacon, creamy ranch dressing, crunchy lettuce, and juicy tomatoes are the perfect toppings for grilled chicken and melted American cheese.

This one’s great as either a sandwich or a wrap, and adding avocado takes it to another level.

A regular Bacon Ranch Chicken Cheese Steak contains 860 calories, 44g of fat, 66g of carbs, and 54g of protein.

1. The Original Italian (#13)

The Original Italian is the best Jersey Mike’s sub, hands down.

It’s nice to have other options on the menu, but if you only try one thing from Jersey Mike’s, make it a #13.

It’s a classic Italian sub, and there’s no other way to eat it than “Mike’s way.”

Add banana peppers and pickles if you must, but don’t you dare skip “the juice” – the olive oil and red wine vinegar are what sends this over the top.

It is a salty, spicy, savory sandwich made with boiled ham, prosciuttini, cappacuolo, salami, pepperoni, and provolone cheese.

A regular Original Italian on a white roll “Mike’s way” contains 920 calories, 54g of fat, 65g of carbs, and 45g of protein.

Conclusion

There are a ton of sandwiches on Jersey Mike’s menu, and honestly, none of them are bad.

All Jersey Mike’s subs are made fresh with quality ingredients, so don’t be afraid to try something new.

If you prefer to customize your sandwich, order it “Mike’s way” with special toppings and “the juice,” which is a blend of olive oil and red wine.

Next time you’re craving a hot or cold sub, stop by a Jersey Mike’s near you and use this list to find your next favorite sandwich!
