Whole Foods Pickup: Everything You Need to Know Before Ordering
Whether you’re dealing with a hectic schedule or looking to skip a trip to the grocery store, grocery pickup offers a convenient alternative to in-person shopping. With Whole Foods pickup, you can order your Whole Foods favorites online without waiting in line or navigating crowded aisles at the store.
Whole Foods pickup is free for Amazon Prime members on eligible orders over $35, with pickup windows in as little as 1 hour. When you place an order with Whole Foods pickup, you pay the same prices and have exclusive Prime deals as you would in-store. When your order is ready for pickup, you’ll receive a notification.
In this article, we’ll take a look at how Whole Foods pickup works, how much it costs, and how much to tip your Amazon Whole Foods shopper.
How Does Whole Foods Pickup Work?
Whole Foods started offering free grocery pickup at all of its U.S. stores for Amazon Prime members. With Whole Foods grocery pickup, you can place an order online through Amazon’s website, checkout, and pick up your groceries at your preferred Whole Foods location.
Instead of spending hours at the store shopping for your groceries and household essentials, you’ll be able to stop by the store and pick up your order when it’s ready.
Here’s how to place an order for Whole Foods pickup:
- Open the Amazon app on your smartphone or visit the Amazon website and log in to your account.
- Choose “Change to Pickup” and select your preferred Whole Foods location before you start shopping.
- Fill your cart with groceries, complete the checkout process, and select your preferred pickup time.
After choosing your pickup time from the available options, you’ll receive a confirmation email from Amazon with instructions for picking up your order.
Be sure to check your confirmation email before heading to the store, as some stores only offer in-store pickup options, while others offer curbside pickup.
When your order is available for pickup, you’ll receive a text notification. And when you arrive at your preferred Whole Foods location, follow the parking signs to the pickup parking spots.
Once you park your car in the designated pickup area, you’ll need to check in by clicking the link in your text notification or order confirmation email.
Upon checking in, you’ll send a notification to your Amazon shopper that you’ve arrived at the store, which can help reduce your wait time.
After receiving the check-in notification, your Amazon Whole Foods shopper will prepare your order to bring to your car.
Great to hear you’re enjoying the pickup service! 💚💚💚

How to Add Items to a Whole Foods Pickup Order
If you need to add items to your pickup order, you can make adjustments until your Amazon Whole Foods shopper starts packing the order. To add items to your order or change your substitutions, navigate to the “Order Details” page to change the number of items in your order or add new items to your cart.
If you’re adding new items to your cart, be sure to select “Add to Whole Foods Market order.” When adding items to your order after checkout, Amazon will automatically start a new cart and a new order.
However, when you open your cart, the option to add items to your current order will be available if you’re adding items within the eligible time frame.
If you’re wondering whether you still have time to add items to your pickup order, the Amazon app will send a notification when your shopper has finished shopping and started packing your order.
Does Whole Foods Take Coupons?
While it’s not possible to use coupons on Whole Foods pickup orders, Whole Foods accepts a wide variety of coupons in-store, including manufacturer’s coupons and store coupons. Plus, with Whole Foods’ new coupon policy, you can combine different coupons with a Prime membership to get the best deals.
Although Whole Foods allows Prime members to stack coupons along with their Amazon Prime membership, it’s important to remember that Whole Foods does not offer cashback when the discounts exceed the value of the item.
To use coupons at Whole Foods, hand each coupon to the cashier when they’re finished ringing up your order. Alternatively, if you’re using self-checkout, you’ll have the option to enter coupons before checking out.
After ringing up your items, all you need to do is click “Coupons” on the payment options screen, and you’ll be able to insert your coupons into the self-checkout kiosk.
Although you can’t use coupons on your Whole Foods grocery pickup order, Amazon will automatically apply your Amazon Prime membership during the checkout process, allowing you to take advantage of weekly Prime deals without shopping in-store.

Are Whole Foods Pickup Prices the Same As in Store?
When you place an order online for Whole Foods pickup, you’ll enjoy the same prices and exclusive Prime deals as you would in-store. During the shopping process, you’ll be able to view Prime deals and discounts before adding items to your cart. At checkout, Amazon will automatically apply your Prime membership.
Although Whole Foods offers the same prices for pickup and in-store items, Amazon Prime members must place an order of at least $35 to qualify for pickup or delivery.
While 1-hour grocery pickup is free for Prime members on eligible orders, Amazon charges a $4.99 fee for pickup windows within 30 minutes.
Does Whole Foods Accept EBT for Pickup?
Whole Foods accepts EBT for online pickup orders. However, if your order is under $35 or you choose the rush pickup option, there will be additional service fees that cannot be covered with SNAP EBT benefits.
Whole Foods accepts EBT online for pickup and delivery, so you can shop for EBT-eligible items online and pay using your EBT card.
However, USDA prohibits the use of SNAP EBT benefits to cover the cost of service fees. This is technically not an issue if your order is over $35 and you select the standard pickup option.

Do You Tip Whole Foods Pickup?
Unfortunately, you cannot leave a tip for Whole Foods pickup. When using the Amazon app to place a Whole Foods order for pickup, there will not be an option to tip during the checkout process. Additionally, Amazon Whole Foods shoppers are advised not to take cash tips for pickup orders.
Although you cannot leave a tip for Whole Foods pickup, it’s possible to leave a tip for your Amazon delivery driver when placing an online order for delivery.
If you place an order using Amazon Flex, Amazon will set a default tip of $5 for smaller orders.
When placing an order for delivery, keep in mind that your delivery driver is not the same person who shopped for your order.
After your delivery is complete, you’ll be able to adjust your tip as needed for 24 hours. To calculate how much to tip your Amazon delivery driver, you can read our article.
